Israeli Players Shine in MLS as Lionel Messi Returns to Inter Miami

Israeli footballers continued their strong individual performances in Major League Soccer (MLS) this week. Thai Baribo extended his impressive form by scoring his fourth consecutive goal, bringing his season tally to 11. Dor Turgeman also found the net again after breaking a scoring drought in the previous round, while Idan Toklomati contributed an assist for Charlotte FC. Additionally, Lionel Messi made his first appearance for Inter Miami since May, marking a significant moment for the club.

In the match between D.C. United and Nashville SC, the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Nashville took a 2-0 lead with goals from Sam Surridge (penalty) and Shaq Mohammed, but D.C. United rallied back with goals from Silvan Hefti and Baribo, who scored the equalizer in the 77th minute. Baribo’s goal was notable for his skillful finish, assisted by Luis Montaño.

Montreal Impact and New England Revolution also drew 2-2. New England initially led 2-0 with a penalty by Carles Gil and a goal from Turgeman, who celebrated provocatively after scoring. However, Montreal fought back with goals from Brian Ramirez and Prince-Osei Owusu to level the match. Injured Israeli player Eyal Feingold did not participate.

Charlotte FC edged out Chicago Fire 2-1, with Toklomati assisting Charlotte’s opening goal by Pep Biel. Despite Robert Lewandowski scoring twice for Chicago, Charlotte secured the win. Toklomati was substituted in the 86th minute.

Inter Miami drew 2-2 with Columbus Crew in a match highlighted by Messi’s return from the bench in the second half. Luis Suarez scored twice for Miami, including a goal following an own goal by Casemiro. Noah Allen also scored for Miami, but Columbus equalized late through substitute Bryce Mendes’ free kick. This was Messi’s first game since the World Cup and his first for Inter Miami since May.
