Portland Trail Blazers Sign NBA Champion Jeremy Sochan to Boost Forward Lineup

The Portland Trail Blazers have continued to shape their roster for the 2026/27 NBA season by signing forward Jeremy Sochan to a one-year contract, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Sochan, 23, joins the team after winning an NBA championship last season with the New York Knicks. During that season, he was traded from the San Antonio Spurs to the Knicks and contributed an average of 2.5 points over eight playoff games en route to the title.

Entering his fifth NBA season, Sochan holds career averages of 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He is expected to add depth and versatility to Portland's forward positions, particularly on the defensive end, though he is not projected to start alongside head coach Mike Norrie's lineup. Sochan will join fellow forward Deni Avdija, forming a new frontcourt partnership.

This signing follows significant roster changes by the Trail Blazers this summer, including the high-profile trade that brought in Ja Morant and saw the departures of Jeremy Grant and Chris Murray.
