Anan Khalaily Helps Union Saint-Gilloise Win Belgian Super Cup

On July 31, Anan Khalaily made his official debut for the 2026/27 season by coming on as a substitute in the 61st minute, aiding Union Saint-Gilloise to secure the Belgian Super Cup for only the second time in the club's history. Khalaily, an Israeli national team winger, was previously set to transfer to Inter Milan, but the move was canceled after he failed the Italian Olympic Committee's rigorous medical examination. Other clubs, including Nottingham Forest, have been linked with him, but for now, he is reintegrating into David Huber's squad.

During the Super Cup match against Club Brugge, Khalaily entered alongside South African international Relha Mofokeng, who joined Union Saint-Gilloise for 3.5 million euros last month. The game saw Club Brugge take the lead in the 49th minute through 41-year-old German striker Nicolo Tresoldi, a player reportedly targeted by Manchester United and Chelsea. Union Saint-Gilloise equalized in the 77th minute with a goal from Argentine captain Kevin McAllister, brother of Alexis McAllister. With no extra time in the Super Cup, the match proceeded directly to a penalty shootout. Khalaily scored his penalty, and after Club Brugge's Chevio Tsawa missed the fourth shot, Union Saint-Gilloise won the shootout 5-4.

Additionally, Israeli defender Nikita Stoynov played the full 90 minutes in Dinamo Bucharest's 1-1 draw against Oțelul Galați in the Romanian league's third round, helping his team earn four points from nine possible. Meanwhile, Israeli midfielder Liam Harush started and played 71 minutes for Grazer AK in a 3-0 loss to Austrian double champions LASK Linz in the Austrian league opener. Harush, 22, who previously played on loan at Sheriff Tiraspol and scored in the Moldovan Cup final, made his official debut for Grazer AK last week in a 4-0 cup win over Dunaföldvár Vienna.
