Report: Iran Quickly Seals Uranium Stockpiles Amid Fears of U.S. Action
Iran has sharply accelerated efforts to seal its uranium stockpiles, according to a CNN report citing five U.S. intelligence sources. The material is enriched to a level close to weapons grade.
The sources said access to about half a ton of highly enriched uranium has become much harder and more dangerous. Removing it is now expected to take significantly longer than analysts believed a month ago.
The report comes after U.S. President Donald Trump said last month that he could order the military to seize the uranium. CNN also said the sealing of the stockpiles is complicating efforts to reach a deal with Tehran that would require the removal and destruction of those reserves.
