Washington Assures Hamas of Netanyahu’s Commitment to Gaza Withdrawal and Peace Deal Implementation

Washington has reportedly assured Hamas that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has committed to withdrawing Israeli forces from Gaza and implementing the recently announced peace agreement. This report, published by the Saudi news outlet Al Hadath citing Arab sources, came shortly after the full roadmap for the Gaza peace plan was released. The plan outlines political, security, and civilian steps including transferring governance in Gaza to a new Palestinian committee, gradual disarmament of militant groups, deployment of an international force, and phased Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza.

However, an Israeli political source clarified that there will be no Israeli retreat from the current "yellow line" in Gaza without Hamas genuinely disarming. Israeli officials remain skeptical, expecting Hamas to violate the agreement and refuse to disarm. Despite this, Netanyahu is unlikely to oppose the process publicly, as he does not want to appear uncooperative to the United States. Israeli assessments indicate no actual troop withdrawals are expected under the agreement at least until after upcoming elections.

Earlier on the same day, the full peace roadmap was unveiled following Hamas’s acceptance of U.S. President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan for Gaza. The plan demands significant political and security changes, including handing over control to a new Palestinian authority and a gradual Israeli military pullback, contingent on Hamas’s disarmament and international monitoring.
