Haredi Soldiers Attacked During Jerusalem Protest Supporting Rioters Near Supreme Court Judge's Home

Hundreds of Haredi protesters marched in Jerusalem in an event supporting individuals involved in a previous riot near the home of Supreme Court Deputy President Noam Sohlberg. The demonstration began with a convoy from Beit Shemesh to Jerusalem, followed by a foot march to Kikar HaShabbat. Participants carried signs opposing the conscription of Haredim, including one stating, "We will never serve in the enemy's army." During the protest, three Haredi soldiers serving in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion were attacked after they inadvertently entered the area. Additionally, objects were thrown at police officers, and chants against law enforcement were heard.

This protest followed the release of 63 Haredim detained on suspicion of involvement in last month's riot outside Judge Sohlberg's home in Alon Shvut. The earlier unrest caused damage to the judge's residence and family vehicle, including broken windows, shattered pots and flowerpots, and harm to the entrance. Israeli flags with swastikas drawn on them were placed in the street. Judge Sohlberg's wife, Meira, described the scene as reminiscent of Kristallnacht, expressing shock that Jews could harm one another in such a manner, emphasizing their identity as children of Holocaust survivors.
