Israeli Seminary Leaders Address Educational Challenges at Annual Conference in Netanya
The annual conference of the Israeli Seminary Association took place at the Gali Tsanz Hotel in Netanya, focusing on the significant challenges facing Jewish education today. The event opened with remarks from Rabbi Yitzhak Ostralitz, CEO of the Seminary Association, and was moderated by Rabbi Yaakov Rozenstein, CEO of Meir Seminary in Modiin Illit. Rabbi Shlomo Wolf, director of the Wolf Seminary in Bnei Brak, delivered the opening lecture, followed by speeches from Rabbi Binyamin Shreiber, head of the Netiv HaDaat Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and Rabbi Yitzchak Leifer, head of the Pittsburgh Yeshiva in Ashdod.
A central educational panel featured Rabbi Yitzchak Klein, supervisor of yeshivas at Beit Shemesh and Jerusalem, Rabbi Yitzchak Aharonson, a lecturer at Sadigura Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, and Rabbi Yitzchak Israel, a lecturer at Imrei Moshe Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, with Rabbi Aryeh Rub as moderator. Bnei Brak Mayor Hanoch Zeibert spoke on the sacred task of education. Professional lectures were also given by Rabbi Yosef Asher and attorney Oren Gabay.
The conference highlighted letters from prominent Torah leaders emphasizing the heavy responsibility of educators in preserving traditional Torah values amid contemporary challenges. Rabbi David Lando stressed the importance of guiding students with care and integrity, especially regarding enrollment processes. Rabbi Moshe Bergman noted the increasing trials in the messianic era and the need to strengthen faith foundations. Rabbi Meir Hirsch praised the conference's role in supporting education according to ancestral traditions, while the Tsanz Rebbe called on educators to steadfastly protect the purity of girls' education.
Rabbi Binyamin Shreiber's keynote address underscored the need to teach students that the difficulties of Torah life are not sacrifices but valuable investments leading to great spiritual reward. The event was extensively documented by photographer A. Eisenbach.
