The report also claimed that IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir apologized to CENTCOM commander General Brad Cooper as a result.

Shortly after, the Israel Defense Forces issued a partial denial, stating that the claim about a conversation between Zamir and Cooper was false. A military source clarified that the Chief of Staff had not spoken with the CENTCOM commander since Gallant's statements. Journalist Barak Ravid also cited a senior American official denying any such conversation took place regarding Gallant's remarks.
