The story · English

Israeli cybersecurity company ACT Security, founded by the creators of Medigate, has officially emerged from stealth mode to reveal its innovative technology aimed at securing cloud environments. The company has raised a total of $60 million, including $20 million in a seed round led by Team8 and Bessemer Venture Partners, and $40 million in a Series A round led by Notable Capital. ACT Security’s platform addresses the growing challenges posed by artificial intelligence advancements, which have rendered traditional vulnerability patching ineffective due to the overwhelming volume of security alerts and weaknesses.

Instead of focusing on patching vulnerabilities, ACT Security’s technology eliminates the conditions that allow exploitation by reducing potential attack surfaces in cloud environments. This is achieved by clearly defining boundaries for users, applications, data, and AI agents. The company was founded by CEO Yonatan Langer, CTO Itay Kirshenbaum, VP of Product Stefan Goldberg, and VP of R&D Eili Pelach. Langer and Kirshenbaum previously founded Medigate, a medical device security startup acquired by Claroty in 2021 for approximately $400 million.

ACT Security employs around 50 people across Israel and the US. Yonatan Langer highlighted that nearly 97% of cloud access permissions are unused, yet AI agents continue to operate with these outdated permissions, increasing security risks. He emphasized that the rise of AI models like Claude Mitus has made vulnerability patching obsolete, as the root issue lies in permission architecture, which remains unaddressed.

The company’s platform aims to structurally secure cloud environments before cyberattacks occur by reducing excessive access permissions accumulated over time. Previously, the slower pace of human attackers allowed some risk management, but AI-powered attackers now exploit these vulnerabilities rapidly, making ACT Security’s solution critical for modern cloud security.
