Report Reveals Nearly 2 Million Shekels Spent on Israeli Prime Minister's Residences in 2025

The Movement for Freedom of Information released a report detailing the expenses of the Israeli Prime Minister's residences for 2025 and the first half of 2026. In 2025, total spending on the residences amounted to approximately 2 million shekels (1,979,517), including 165,000 shekels on food, 95,000 shekels on gardening at the private home in Caesarea, and a confidential sum of 63,000 shekels without detailed explanation.

For the first half of 2026, expenses reached 731,081 shekels, with notable costs including 53,000 shekels for food, 15,000 shekels for bathtub replacement, over 31,000 shekels for electricity, and more than 42,000 shekels for maintenance and upkeep products. Additional expenditures in August 2025 included 2,700 shekels spent on Wolt deliveries, and 10,590 shekels in 2025 for preventive treatment of roots penetrating beneath the Caesarea home. The 2026 report also revealed 4,657 shekels spent on thermostat replacements at the Caesarea residence.

The report noted a new classification this year including the private home on Gaza Street and other private residences. The official Balfour residence is currently under renovation and classified as supported apartments. Attorney Hidi Negev, CEO of the Movement for Freedom of Information, criticized the lack of transparency and the lavish use of public funds amid the country's economic challenges and ongoing war. Negev emphasized the need for proactive and continuous disclosure of such expenses to uphold public oversight and responsibility.
