Original 'Chiquititas' Stars Nadia and Sebastian Return to Israel for Musical
Nadia Di Cello and Sebastian Francini, the original stars of the beloved Argentine TV series "Chiquititas," are returning to Israel 24 years after the show first captivated millions of Israeli children and adults. They will appear as special guests in the new international musical adaptation of "Chiquititas," which will be staged at Expo Tel Aviv from August 12 to 20. During the performances, Nadia and Sebastian will join the cast on stage for a festive Spanish medley celebrating the 30th anniversary of the original series launch.
The musical production is led by the original musical producer of the series, promising an authentic and nostalgic experience. It is produced by toMix in collaboration with Israeli artists Maor Maimon and Gal Amitai, featuring a talented Israeli cast including Amit Farkash, Yadin Gilman, Oded Paz, Liat Aharon, and Eden Daniel Gabay. Liat Aharon, a former host of the Israeli Children’s Channel who previously played "Belén" in the original musical over 20 years ago, now takes on the role of the villainous orphanage director Mrs. Carmen Moran, marking an emotional full circle for her.
The initiative to bring the original stars to Israel is led by producer and entrepreneur Netanel Ben Shabat, who holds exclusive representation rights for Nadia and Sebastian in Israel and facilitated their involvement in the production. In a video message ahead of their arrival, Nadia expressed excitement about returning, highlighting the special bond with the Israeli audience and the significance of celebrating 30 years of the series that shaped a generation’s childhood.
The new musical will feature about 30 of the original and well-known songs from the series, blending nostalgia with a professional and spectacular production. Tickets are already on sale, and anticipation is high among fans, especially within religious-national families for whom "Chiquititas" was an integral part of their children’s upbringing. The return of the original stars promises a unique and heartfelt family experience.
