Greek Singer Glykeria Resumes Israel Tour Despite Threats and Cancellations

Greek singer Glykeria, aged 72, has resumed her concert tour in Israel despite previous threats to her life from pro-Palestinian groups. After sparking outrage in Greece and canceling several Israeli shows, including a planned October 2025 performance at the Oshpizin Festival in Ashdod, she performed recently at Kibbutz Ein Shefef, where she was warmly welcomed. Glykeria, known for her support of Israel, has faced over a dozen concert cancellations in Greece over the past year due to anti-Israel pressure and security concerns, which have also increased the cost of her performances.

Her manager, Zion Kedem, revealed that pro-Palestinian organizations, including one named "Culture for Palestine," have persistently targeted her with threats, prompting police patrols around her home in Athens. Despite these challenges and security advisories from Greek authorities urging her to postpone Israeli shows, Glykeria remains the only Greek singer willing to perform in Israel. She had previously performed in Bat Yam in June 2025 and was scheduled for a March 2026 concert canceled due to the Iran conflict.

This latest tour began quietly at Ein Shefef, with Glykeria expressing happiness to be back and wishing for peace. Additional concerts are scheduled in Modiin, Yehud, Mevaseret Zion, Kfar Saba, and Tel Aviv in the coming days.
