Liran Sardal's Future Uncertain Amid Contract Dispute with Hapoel Haifa

Liran Sardal, a long-time symbol of Hapoel Haifa, is currently a free agent after his contract expired, with his future at the club unclear. Sardal, who has been with Hapoel Haifa since age five and holds the club record for appearances, has faced a reduction in playing time this season, making only seven starts in 24 league matches. Despite his desire to remain and contribute significantly on the field, the club offered him a lower salary than before, reflecting his new role as a rotation player rather than a key starter.

Hapoel Haifa's management, including coach Haim Silvas, emphasized Sardal's importance to the team but indicated he cannot be the primary player. The club explained that due to recent physical issues Sardal has faced, he would likely see less playing time if he stayed. Sardal declined the club's financial offer, which has delayed his preparation for the season, including missing the team's training camp in Bulgaria. Contrasting the club's statements, Sardal's father, Ilan, told Sport Channel that they have agreed to the lower offer and are simply awaiting the contract signing. He also noted that Sardal has received other offers from Israeli Premier League teams but prefers to stay with Hapoel Haifa, which he considers his home. According to his father, Sardal's health is good and past injuries are behind him. The situation remains unresolved as the season progresses.
