Massive Wildfire Near Haifa Sparks from Welding Work to Block Wild Boars

A large wildfire broke out in the Lotem Stream area on the western slopes of Haifa, stretching from the Carmel Center to Park Hecht. Ten firefighting teams from the Haifa Fire and Rescue Station are actively combating the blaze, which has approached residential buildings. Although containment efforts are underway, full control has not yet been achieved due to the area's steep and challenging terrain and weather conditions that may reignite the fire.

Deputy Commander Kobi Mizrahi of the Haifa station reported that firefighters have successfully halted the fire's spread and are working hard to extinguish remaining hotspots. Initial investigations indicate the fire started from welding work conducted in the wadi to install a fence aimed at preventing wild boars from crossing. Fire and Rescue authorities reminded the public that a commissioner’s order currently prohibits open fires and technical work that could cause fires in open areas.
