Netanyahu Says Iran Will Not Get Nuclear Arms Under His Watch
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Israel's policy toward Iran will not change, even if the United States reaches a deal with Tehran. He said Israel will continue to block Iran from obtaining nuclear capability under any circumstances.
Netanyahu said he has a “full understanding” on the issue with former U.S. President Donald Trump, and described the stance as a consistent policy that has remained in place for years. “As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” he said.
He added that he has been working for more than three decades against Iran's nuclear program, and claimed that without those efforts Iran would already have nuclear weapons. Netanyahu also said that, in his view, Iran is working to destroy Israel and that Israel is committed to preventing that outcome at any cost. He concluded, “As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, it will not happen.”
