Netanyahu Says Iran Will Never Get Nuclear Arms Under His Watch
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Israel will keep working to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, amid conflicting reports about a possible U.S.-Iran agreement. He declared, "As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, Iran will not have nuclear weapons," and said he had "full agreement" with President Donald Trump on the issue.
Netanyahu said he has been leading the international campaign against Iran’s nuclear program for more than 30 years. "For more than 30 years I have been at the forefront of the international struggle against Iran's nuclear program," he said, adding that without that effort, Iran would have already had atomic bombs to destroy Israel.
He also accused Iran of seeking Israel’s destruction. "Iran is working to destroy the Jewish state, and I devote my life to preventing them from doing that," he said. "As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, that will not happen."
His remarks came after a series of contradictory reports about a possible deal between Washington and Tehran, alongside reports that the United States and Iran were moving toward initial understandings on nuclear issues and sanctions.
