Head of Israel's Second Authority for TV and Radio Resigns Citing Absurd Conditions

Dr. Yifat Ben Hai Segev, chair of Israel's Second Authority for Television and Radio, announced her resignation live on Channel 14's program "The Patriots" on Sunday evening. She revealed that she had informed the Minister of Communications and the government of her decision to step down just two hours prior to the broadcast. Ben Hai Segev expressed frustration with the current state of affairs, stating she could no longer cooperate with what she described as a "distorted and exceptional reality." She emphasized that her role was a public appointment representing the public interest, but the situation had become untenable.

The Second Authority is responsible for regulating commercial television and radio broadcasts across Israel, including national TV stations and regional radio channels. Its policies are set by a public council, which also appoints the authority's chairperson. Ben Hai Segev's resignation signals significant dissatisfaction within the regulatory body overseeing Israeli media.
