Israeli Court Releases Teen Who Admitted Stabbing Father in Bnei Brak Street Dispute

A 16-year-old boy suspected of stabbing a man in Bnei Brak was released to house arrest despite police opposition, according to i24NEWS. The incident occurred last week during the day on a street in Bnei Brak, triggered by a quarrel between two minors over bicycles. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly attacked another minor, and when that minor's father intervened, the suspect reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed him. The father sustained moderate injuries.

The suspect admitted to the stabbing during an investigation conducted by the Dan District police. Authorities argued that the suspect posed a danger and requested to extend his detention. However, the Magistrate's Court ordered his release. The police appealed to the Tel Aviv District Court, which also rejected the appeal. Judge Limor Bibi ruled that the danger posed by the suspect could be mitigated through alternatives to detention. She noted that the suspect comes from a "normal family" capable of setting clear boundaries, thereby upholding the lower court's decision to release him.
