Veteran Journalists Liran Levi and Dr. Itai Gal Join Israel's Channel 16 News Team

Channel 16 in Israel is expanding its news and current affairs division by adding two experienced journalists, Liran Levi and Dr. Itai Gal, to its broadcast team. Liran Levi will serve as the head of the crime desk and as a commentator on internal security matters. With about a decade of experience as a police and crime reporter, Levi has worked for major outlets including Yedioth Ahronoth, Ynet, Walla, and Channel 20. He is known for investigative reports such as the prison guards pimping scandal and the rape of a soldier at Gilboa Prison, which led to criminal investigations, indictments, policy changes in the prison service, and earned him the 2022 Journalists Association investigative reporting award. At Channel 16, Levi will lead coverage of crime and internal security, conduct investigations, and develop in-depth reports.

Joining him is Dr. Itai Gal, who will be the channel's health correspondent. Dr. Gal will cover healthcare systems, hospitals, health funds, public health, medical research, epidemics, and medical innovation and technology. He is a specialist physician and journalist with 19 years of experience as a health reporter for Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth. More recently, he worked as a health and technology correspondent for Maariv and The Jerusalem Post and hosted the health program "Stethoscope" on Channel 13. This recruitment reflects Channel 16's commitment to strengthening its news coverage with seasoned professionals in key reporting areas.
