Israeli Initiative Offers Free Housing to Left-Wing Voters Abroad Ahead of Elections

A new civilian initiative called "Kibbutz Galuyot" has launched in Israel, offering free accommodation in Israeli families' homes to left-wing Israeli citizens living abroad who wish to return to vote in the upcoming elections. The platform states that the assistance is provided "with an open heart and without compensation," aiming to reduce the financial and logistical burdens involved in traveling to Israel to participate in the democratic process.

The initiative specifically targets groups of Israeli academics abroad, presumed to be government opponents, to increase voter turnout for the anti-Netanyahu bloc. This targeted approach has sparked political controversy.

Likud MK Amit Halevi sharply criticized the initiative, calling it "another left-wing operation lacking transparency designed to skew election results." He condemned the effort to recruit left-wing voters from overseas without transparent reporting to the Elections Committee and the Registrar of Associations, labeling it illegal. Halevi stated he has contacted the Elections Committee Chair, Judge Solberg, and the Registrar to thoroughly investigate these activities to ensure the integrity of the elections is fully preserved.
