Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei’s Health Status Remains Unclear Amid Speculation
The health condition of Mojtaba Khamenei, son-in-law of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, remains uncertain. Ruhollah Ali Haddad Adel, former Iranian parliament speaker and member of the regime’s Security Council, responded vaguely in an interview with ILNA news agency when asked about Mojtaba’s health, saying, "Inshallah, Akha Mojtaba is healthy." He added that Mojtaba is currently not in contact with anyone due to certain matters. This statement followed Mojtaba’s absence from his father’s funeral, fueling further questions about his condition.
Meanwhile, Israeli intelligence sources have expressed doubts about Ali Khamenei’s level of control over Iran’s affairs, describing him as a "present absentee." Reports from about a week ago suggested uncertainty regarding Khamenei’s involvement in state management and decision-making. Saudi channel Al Hadath cited an Israeli security source claiming Khamenei is not even in Iran, with Revolutionary Guards commander Ahmad Vahidi and other senior officials reportedly issuing directives on his behalf.
Israeli defense officials denied these claims, confirming that no official source supports the assertion that Khamenei is absent from Iran. According to Israeli intelligence, Khamenei is alive and in Iran, but questions remain about his functional role and influence within the regime’s leadership. The ambiguity surrounding both Mojtaba Khamenei’s health and Ali Khamenei’s authority continues to provoke speculation about the internal dynamics of Iran’s ruling elite.
