Iran Halts Attacks as US-Iran Talks Progress Amid Tense Calm

After two days without American strikes in Iran and reports that President Donald Trump has decided to pause expanding military operations, Iran announced it has also stopped its attacks. Iranian military spokesman Amir Akhrominia stated that since the US halted its strikes, Iran, which had been responding reactively, ceased its retaliatory actions. However, he warned that any renewal of US attacks would escalate the conflict further. Akhrominia criticized the Trump administration for lacking a clear strategy, describing it as divided and inconsistent.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that both the US and Iran have submitted responses to mediators from Qatar and Pakistan regarding proposals to resume negotiations. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed that during the ceasefire, Iran accelerated missile production, improved accuracy, increased military readiness, and strengthened defense systems, asserting that the US failed to capitalize on the pause.

Earlier, the New York Times reported that Trump reversed his threats to intensify strikes against Iranian targets, citing Pentagon concerns over a shortage of Patriot missile interceptors in the Middle East. US officials also expressed worries about the potential for broader regional conflict, risks to key Gulf allies, and worsening global economic and energy crises. Despite the current calm, both sides remain cautious as the situation continues to evolve.
