Manor Solomon Gains Momentum for Tottenham Rotation Under De Zerbi

Manor Solomon, the Israeli national team star, is increasingly impressing Tottenham Hotspur coach Roberto De Zerbi during pre-season. On Sunday, Solomon started for the second consecutive friendly match, helping Tottenham secure a 2-0 win over Auckland in New Zealand. At 27, he was the oldest player in a largely young and substitute-based lineup fielded by De Zerbi, who previously coached Solomon at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Since joining Tottenham in summer 2023, Solomon has struggled to establish himself, but the renewed connection with De Zerbi may change that. With Mohamed Kudus still unfit, Solomon is currently the only senior attacking player on the right wing available for the tour in New Zealand and Australia, and he was arguably the most influential player in the match. He created six chances, touched the ball nine times inside the opponent's box, and completed four successful dribbles, more than any other player.

However, not all feedback was positive. English journalist Mattie Platt criticized Solomon's performance on Yahoo, noting that he was largely ineffective in the first half, making some poor decisions and struggling to make an impact. Platt observed that Solomon appeared more comfortable after being shifted to a number 10 role in the second half, where he led attacks more effectively.

The early signs from Tottenham's pre-season camp suggest that De Zerbi may soon give Solomon a genuine opportunity to prove himself in the first team, potentially increasing his role in the squad moving forward.
