HaN Theatre Unveils Diverse 2026-2027 Season Featuring Israeli Originals and Classic Adaptations

HaN Theatre in Jerusalem announced its 2026-2027 season, showcasing a rich and varied repertoire that includes original Israeli plays, a modern Shakespearean tragedy, and adaptations of classic works. The season features original Israeli dramas such as "Towards the Bride" and "The Monkey," alongside a new version of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" and the Israeli stage premiere of "The Lehman Brothers." Additionally, a new theatrical adaptation of Yoram Kaniuk's novel "Haimo King of Jerusalem" will be presented.

The selected plays explore diverse Jewish experiences, including the life of a Haredi family, Jewish Germans on the eve of the Nazi rise, and Jewish immigrant families who built one of the world's largest economic empires in America. The season addresses complex social issues such as political power struggles in "Macbeth," sexual abuse in the Haredi community in "Towards the Bride," the rise of American capitalism in "The Lehman Brothers," and themes of alienation and identity in "The Monkey."

Yoram Braverman, CEO of HaN Theatre, emphasized the institution's cultural significance and its extensive community engagement, highlighting its role in strengthening social resilience and cohesion in Israel. In 2025, the theatre reported revenues exceeding 17 million shekels, with a 14% increase in subscriptions, staging 200 performances at its home venue and 60 across the country.

Artistic Director Udi Ben Moshe described the upcoming season as a mosaic reflecting Jerusalem's spirit, combining various theatrical styles and languages unified by themes of power, community, and identity. The season also includes a special collaboration with the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Jerusalem.
