Amit Segal Slams MK Tali Gottlieb as a Liability to the Right
Political commentator Amit Segal launched an unusually harsh attack in his weekly column in Israel Hayom against Likud MK Tali Gottlieb, portraying her as one of the most damaging figures in the national camp. He said her conduct is destructive and that she directly harms the interests and values of her voters. Segal described her as “a conspiratorial fantasist” and “a walking injury to the right and to the state,” adding that she has never contributed to advancing right-wing goals, except through “a mix of arguments in deafening decibels.”
Beyond criticizing her style and substance, Segal blamed Gottlieb for one of the coalition’s major political failures, the fight over control of the committee that selects judges and appoints the president of the Supreme Court. He argued that her insistence on running for the committee against the position of coalition leaders disrupted the plan and produced the opposite result from what the right wanted.
According to Segal, Gottlieb was personally responsible for the appointment of Yitzhak Amit as Supreme Court president. He said her “egocentric” race, against the entire coalition, for a seat on the judicial selection committee ended with the appointment of an opposition representative instead.
