London Mayor Threatens to Enforce ICC Arrest Warrant Against Netanyahu

London Mayor Sadiq Khan addressed the possibility of the UK enforcing the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In an interview with Channel 4, Khan stated, "Anyone accused of genocide must face trial," and emphasized that if Netanyahu visits London, he will work with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to ensure the law is upheld. Khan added, "People who commit genocide are not welcome in London."

Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Eric Adams clarified that his administration lacks the legal authority to enforce the ICC arrest warrant against Netanyahu. Adams had previously considered detaining Netanyahu if he attended the UN General Assembly in New York in September. In a video posted on his X social media account, Adams described Netanyahu as a "war criminal" and "architect of horrific genocide against the Palestinian people," accusing him of causing starvation and the deaths of aid workers and journalists. Adams criticized the US for funding the bombings responsible for these casualties.

These statements come amid ongoing international scrutiny of Netanyahu's policies and actions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The ICC issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu, which some international figures are urging to be enforced.
