Police foil explosive attack in Usfiya, prosecutors seek charges against three suspects

Police say they prevented a criminal bombing attempt in the Druze town of Usfiya, where an explosive device was allegedly placed in a residential home. On Thursday, the Haifa District Attorney’s Office filed a declaration of intent to indict three suspects and to request that they remain in custody until the end of the proceedings.

The incident took place on May 6, 2026. After the report came in, investigators from the Coastal District’s Major Crimes Unit opened an intensive and complex probe, using both overt and covert steps, along with advanced technological tools and evidence gathering. Those efforts led to the identification of the people involved.

The three suspects were arrested on May 7, 2026, and their detention has been extended repeatedly by the court as the investigation continued. Police said the case is being treated as a serious criminal act tied to disputes between criminal groups.

In its statement, police said such explosive-device incidents endanger ordinary civilians and the public’s safety. The Coastal District said its special and investigative units will continue working against crime in Arab society, with the aim of preventing severe violence, disrupting criminal infrastructure, and bringing those involved to justice.
