Rare Footage Shows Jewish Community Reading Lamentations in Iranian Synagogue on Tisha B'Av

A rare video broadcast by Channel 14 captures dozens of Jews in an Iranian synagogue reading the Book of Lamentations and mourning the destruction of Jerusalem on Tisha B'Av. The footage shows worshippers sitting on the floor, observing the traditional fast and lamenting the loss of the Temples from thousands of kilometers away.

Nevertheless, this community remains under constant surveillance, and any suspicion of ties to Israel or cooperation with Israeli entities could endanger them. She said, "They know they are under a very sharp eye of the regime." The footage highlights the precarious position of Iranian Jews who maintain religious traditions despite political and social pressures.
