Likud MK Uses ChatGPT to Critique Sharren Haskel's Testimony on State Comptroller Vote

Likud MK Hanoch Milwidsky sharply criticized Sharren Haskel's affidavit submitted to Israel's Supreme Court regarding the appointment of the State Comptroller. Milwidsky posted a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) showing a ChatGPT query about the term "late testimony," which the AI defined as testimony given later than expected, often raising doubts about its reliability. This was a direct critique of Haskel's credibility.

Milwidsky's post included the AI's explanation that late testimony generally carries low evidentiary weight unless a reasonable explanation for the delay is provided. He implied that Haskel's testimony, presented only now, might be a retrofitted narrative to serve her objectives.

Haskel, who recently resigned from the government, had claimed weeks earlier that Knesset members were instructed to photograph their votes behind the curtain during the State Comptroller election. She submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court supporting this claim as part of a petition to allow her to split from the New Hope faction.

In her affidavit, Haskel stated that New Hope had no independent position on the appointment and that Likud imposed its candidate without allowing faction members to vote freely. She also alleged that during a repeated voting round, faction members were required to record their votes on video and show the footage to Prime Minister Netanyahu as a condition for voting. Haskel affirmed these were facts known to her personally and confirmed by media reports.

The dispute highlights tensions within the right-wing factions over the State Comptroller appointment process and raises questions about the transparency and independence of faction voting procedures.
