Israeli Influencer Nataly Dadon Takes on 24-Hour Speech Fast for Tisha B'Av
Israeli social media star Nataly Dadon revealed that alongside observing the traditional Tisha B'Av fast, she has committed to a 24-hour speech fast as a personal challenge. Dadon explained that she took on this speech fast "without a vow" to try a day of silence for deep self-reflection and to carefully choose her words and approach. In a video posted online, which garnered tens of thousands of views, she called for unity among the Israeli people, expressing a hope that one day drivers will honk at each other on the road and be met with patience and understanding rather than anger.
Dadon also shared her decision to send her son, Reef, to a religious educational framework to ensure he learns about Jewish roots and identity, particularly the lessons of the destruction of the Temple and the consequences of baseless hatred. She noted that secular schools often do not address these topics adequately. Dadon emphasized that her comments are not meant as criticism but as a hopeful call for improvement, especially with the 2026 elections approaching.
Regarding her speech fast, Dadon clarified that she is not committing to complete silence but rather to reducing unnecessary words, avoiding knee-jerk reactions and judgment, and focusing on listening and thoughtful speech. She described this as a personal effort to purify her language and communication style during this period.
Her initiative highlights a blend of personal growth, cultural reflection, and a public appeal for greater empathy and unity within Israeli society during a solemn national day.
