Alphabet Beats Expectations with Strong Q1 Results and Successful Wiz Integration

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, reported quarterly financial results that met analyst expectations for both revenue and earnings per share. The company posted revenues of approximately $117 billion, reflecting a year-over-year growth of 21% to 24%, while earnings per share ranged between $2.87 and $2.90, in line with market forecasts. Google Cloud remained the primary growth driver, supported by stable search and advertising operations enhanced by new AI tools.

Alphabet emphasized its continued massive investments in AI infrastructure, confirming its 2026 capital expenditure forecast of $180 billion to $190 billion. CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted in a conference call that these investments in advanced AI processors and servers are essential to meet rising demand for Gemini products and cloud services, a trend expected to persist into 2027.

The company also addressed its $32 billion acquisition of Israeli cybersecurity firm Wiz, noting that Wiz’s performance and demand for its cloud and AI security solutions have exceeded initial expectations. However, the integration process has caused a slight erosion in Google Cloud’s operating margins for 2026 due to integration and expansion costs. Nevertheless, incorporating Wiz’s product portfolio into Google Cloud has significantly enhanced Google’s value proposition to large clients and accelerated Google Cloud’s growth, helping secure major strategic contracts.
