Jerusalem Hosts Israel's 90th National Athletics Championship Featuring Top Athletes

Jerusalem is set to host the 90th Israeli Athletics Championship on July 20-21, continuing its role as Israel's sports capital. The event will bring together the country's leading athletes, including Noam Mamo, the new Israeli U23 record holder in the 400 meters, and national record holders in hurdles and shot put such as Sagi Lamdiel, Omri Shiff, and Menachem Mendel Chen. Other notable competitors include high jump champion Yonatan Kapitulnik and 100-meter champion Alina Drotman, who aims to defend her title against rival Mercy Afrifa.

Exciting contests are expected across various disciplines, including the 400 meters with Nitzan Assas and Darlin Asante, and the 800 meters featuring Karwan Halabi Kablan, Rachel Perez Martinez, and Shani Zakai. Additional highlights include Adva Cohen in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Romi Tamir challenging the national long jump record, and Estelle Valano defending her discus title ahead of the European Championships. Pole vault U23 record holder Yarden Mantel will also compete as she prepares for the upcoming World Youth Championships.

Jerusalem's municipality continues to invest heavily in sports infrastructure and hosting major national and international events, such as the recent Grand Slam athletics competition and the Maccabiah Games athletics contests.
