Israeli Authorities Arrest Three Suspects in Half-Billion Shekel Money Laundering Case
The Jerusalem District Anti-Crime Unit and the Israeli Tax Authority have arrested three suspects accused of running an international economic crime network. The suspects allegedly operated an extensive web of fictitious companies and nonprofit organizations both in Israel and abroad. Through this network, they laundered money for local companies and smuggled funds overseas.
Their method involved receiving cash payments, issuing false invoices, and concealing money via bank transfers and real estate payment vouchers. Last week, investigators raided the homes of 16 suspects and seized dozens of assets. The case has been dubbed "Payment Voucher" due to the widespread use of real estate payment vouchers in the scheme. The court has extended the detention of two key suspects.
