New Version of Iconic Song Debuts in Upcoming Israeli Military Comedy Film

Fifty years after the release of the cult film "Givat Halfon Does Not Answer," a new military comedy titled "Hill 338" has unveiled its theme song, a fresh rendition of the original's "Let Me Rest My Head on a Dune." Directed by Erez Ben Harosh, the film is set to premiere in Israeli cinemas on August 6. The updated song, arranged by Ran Shem Tov, features performances by the film's stars Eli Yatzpan, Shahar Hasson, Tal Friedman, Kim Or Azulay, and Avraham Arenson. Additionally, Yael Poliakoff sings the verse originally performed by her late father, the actor and comedian Israel (Poli) Poliakoff.

"Hill 338" centers on a small, forgotten military base in the Jordan Valley. The plot unfolds when the Chinese government offers Israel a substantial sum to evacuate the area for a renewed Silk Road route. A demolition officer, played by Ran Shem Tov, is dispatched to execute the evacuation but discovers an old bunker beneath the base. Unexpected events delay the evacuation, forcing the soldiers to confront both internal and external challenges.

The film features a broad cast including Uri Gottlieb, Meir Swissa alongside his sons Michael and Yishai Swissa, Shmuel Vilozny, Anat Atzmon, Idit Teperson, Noa Yatzpan, and Eden Daniel Gabay. The project is a collaboration between United King Films, No Drama, and Keshet 12. This release pays homage to the classic work of Assi Dayan and the comedy trio "HaGashash HaHiver."
