Toldos Aharon Community Votes Overwhelmingly to Begin New Study Hall Construction in Mea Shearim

After months of deliberation, the Toldos Aharon Hasidic community decided by an 83 percent majority to proceed with building their new central study hall on Mea Shearim Street. The decision came through a community-wide referendum initiated by the Building Fund Committee, which sought public approval amid concerns over global economic slowdown, declining overseas donations, and a weakening dollar that could increase local financial burdens.

The committee informed community members that construction would begin imminently and that once demolition of the existing study hall started, halting the project would no longer be feasible. They also stated that if the majority voted against proceeding, the entire project would be canceled and all donations returned. The voting process was supervised by community rabbis and judges, ensuring transparency.

The results showed 83 percent in favor of moving forward and 17 percent preferring to wait. The Toldos Aharon Rebbe, currently resting in Hungary, was updated on the outcome and expressed satisfaction with the community's decision, offering his blessing for the project’s advancement. Preparations are now underway to commence construction shortly after the upcoming Jewish holidays, marking the start of one of the largest building endeavors in the community’s history.
