Nadvorna Hasidic Community Holds Gala for New Jerusalem Study Hall
The Nadvorna Hasidic community held a fundraising event, "Our Home," at the ancient synagogue in Moza, near Jerusalem, to support the construction of a new study hall in Beitar Illit. The event featured a festive meal, a completion of a Talmudic tractate, and a speech by educator Rabbi Pinchas Breuer, who emphasized the spiritual importance of the community center for future generations.
A highlight of the evening was the appearance of the Rebbe, who arrived to the sounds of music and singing. He wore his father's coat, the "Be'er Yaakov," which was worn during historical founding trips to Bistina and Hebron. The Nadvorna Jerusalem dynasty has seen significant growth, opening three new prayer halls in the past year, including the most recent one in Beitar Illit, which was initially funded by the central organization.
In response to requests from local community members, the Rebbe brought a "Kittel" (a white garment worn on Yom Kippur) belonging to his grandfather, the "Dover Chaim." In a rare gesture, he cut a portion of it to be fashioned into "gartlach" (sashes) for donors contributing to the study hall's construction. The attendees were deeply moved and pledged significant sums for the project.
The event also included emotional renditions of High Holiday prayers, accompanied by archival footage of the "Be'er Yaakov." The community's rabbi, Rabbi Chaim Mordechai, praised the organizers for their dedication. The Rebbe delivered a discourse on the value of building a spiritual home for the community and shared anecdotes about individuals who grew spiritually through their involvement with the local prayer hall and community life, referencing his father's teachings on the necessity of such centers for scholars.
Donors received special knives inscribed with the Rebbe's blessing. The Rebbe also acknowledged the community leaders and activists who worked tirelessly for the event and the study hall's development, particularly commending strategist Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Ganzel for his campaign efforts. Organizers expressed great satisfaction with the fundraising results, which exceeded expectations, and noted the public's appreciation for the dedication shown in building the new study hall.
