Naor Narkis Vows to Continue Political Fight After Losing Democratic Primaries

Naor Narkis, who placed 22nd in the Democratic primaries in Israel, responded to the results by affirming his commitment to remain active in politics and maintain his campaign's messages. Despite falling far from the realistic winning spots in a vote involving over 97,000 party members, Narkis congratulated the successful candidates and pledged to support the Democratic Party in the upcoming elections, calling it the party that best represents him in Israel.

Acknowledging his low ranking, Narkis framed the outcome as the start of a long political journey, emphasizing that politics requires learning, improvement, and perseverance. He cited examples of prominent left-wing figures who ran multiple times before entering the Knesset and vowed to continue his efforts until he succeeds. He thanked the 15,345 voters who supported him and his campaign volunteers.

Narkis also addressed the criticism and ridicule he faced after the results were published, interpreting the extensive media coverage of his unlikely candidacy as proof that his messages resonate with sensitive issues in Israeli society. He declared his intention to keep promoting "unapologetic secular Zionism," highlighting the pressures secular Israelis face from religious and ultra-Orthodox establishments. He reiterated demands for equal military conscription, ending funding to religious organizations he claims infringe on rights, and continuing activism in ultra-Orthodox cities.

Looking ahead, Narkis plans a nationwide tour to engage secular Israelis and raise awareness about combating religious coercion. He noted that while some of his positions are currently seen as radical, they may become mainstream among secular Israelis in the future. He concluded by stating that his work representing secular rights in Israel will persist and intensify, even without being a Knesset member.
