Maccabi Haifa Signs Serbian-American Forward Andrea Novakovic for Two Years

Maccabi Haifa officially signed 29-year-old Serbian-American forward Andrea Novakovic on Tuesday for a two-year contract ahead of the upcoming season. Novakovic, who recently played for Serie B club Reggina in Italy, passed medical tests and joined Barak Bachar's squad. His annual salary is reported to be around 300,000 euros.

Novakovic, standing 1.92 meters tall, is the team's tenth foreign player. He previously played for clubs including Reading in England, Telstar in the Netherlands, and several Italian teams such as Venezia, Frosinone, and Bari. His most prolific season was in 2017/18 with Telstar, scoring 22 goals and providing four assists. In 2020/21 at Frosinone, he scored 11 goals and assisted five times.

Last season at Reggina, Novakovic scored five goals and had one assist in 33 appearances. Although he was under contract for another year, he reached an agreement to leave the club and joined Maccabi Haifa on a free transfer. Notably, he declined an offer from Hapoel Tel Aviv last summer, seeking a more attractive opportunity. Novakovic expressed excitement about joining Maccabi Haifa and looks forward to meeting the fans at Sammy Ofer Stadium.
