Israeli Court Releases Associates of Jeroushi Crime Family to House Arrest Amid Grenade Wave Investigation

Following several days in custody, Khaled Hamada, known as "Sombol," and Issa Alwahwah, both linked to the Jeroushi crime family, were released to house arrest until July 25, 2026. The decision by the Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion came with police consent as investigations continue into a recent wave of grenade attacks across Israel. The arrests are part of a broader police effort to curb escalating violence between the Mosli and Jeroushi crime families, which has included grenade throws, shootings, and arson attempts targeting businesses such as the Jafnika chain and other locations.

Hamada, a Lod resident, was detained on suspicion of conspiracy based on intelligence connecting him to the Jeroushi brothers, Ismail and Issam. Alwahwah voluntarily appeared for questioning and was also suspected of conspiracy related to grenade attacks nationwide. Police have targeted senior figures and allies of the Jeroushi family to prevent further violence, even though sufficient evidence for indictments has not yet been established.

Defense attorney Walid Kabob criticized the initial detentions as preventive and unfounded, stating the suspects are "clean as snow" and praising the investigative unit for agreeing to their release. The ongoing probe aims to halt the cycle of retaliatory attacks before casualties occur, with authorities issuing warnings to criminals on both sides.
