Israeli Chief Rabbinate and Fire Authority Urge Public Caution During Bein Hazmanim Holidays

Ahead of the Bein Hazmanim period and upcoming vacations, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and the National Fire and Rescue Authority issued a joint urgent appeal to the public to act responsibly and adhere to safety guidelines issued by rescue authorities. The call emphasizes the importance of preserving life and preventing unnecessary accidents during these rest and travel days.

Chief Rabbi Kalman Meir Bar, also president of the Chief Rabbinate Council, reminded the public of the religious obligation to avoid danger even during leisure time. Citing Maimonides’ laws on preserving life, he urged people to follow safety instructions, avoid swimming in unregulated beaches, exercise caution when lighting fires outdoors, and ensure complete extinguishing of bonfires and grills to prevent fires.

Fire Commissioner Major General Eyal Caspi reinforced that safeguarding life is a shared responsibility. He stressed that following safety rules and rescue instructions reflects mutual responsibility and commitment to protecting human life, nature, and public property. Both bodies called on individuals to take personal responsibility, especially in protecting children during this period.

The joint statement highlights the critical need for vigilance during Bein Hazmanim, a traditional break in the academic calendar, to ensure a safe holiday season for all.
