Tiberias Balances Luxury Hotel Growth with Ongoing Lakeside Neglect
Tiberias is experiencing a contrast between the development of new luxury hotels and ongoing neglect along parts of the Sea of Galilee shoreline, which remains cluttered with garbage. In response to concerns about the state of the lakeside, the Tiberias municipality stated that significant upgrades and renovations are currently underway at many locations along the beach. These improvement works are expected to be completed by the start of the "Bein Hazmanim" period, a traditional vacation time in Israel.
The municipality also emphasized that daily cleaning operations are being conducted along the beach strip. Recently, the city replaced its cleaning contractor due to dissatisfaction with the previous service, aiming to enhance the maintenance and cleanliness of the area. Despite these efforts, the coexistence of new upscale hotels and neglected public spaces highlights ongoing challenges in managing the city's waterfront development and public amenities.
