Maccabi Tel Aviv Sets €8 Million Price Tag on Varela After World Cup Success

Maccabi Tel Aviv is determined not to easily let go of their 24-year-old winger, Varela, despite significant interest following his impressive performance at the World Cup. Varela, who scored a goal against Uruguay and participated in matches against Cape Verde and Argentina, recently returned to Israel and has already resumed training with the Israeli Premier League club, which holds the State Cup.

The club values Varela highly, estimating his transfer price could reach up to €8 million. This is a substantial increase from the €1.7 million they paid for him last summer. During his first season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Varela scored six goals and provided three assists, including a crucial goal in the State Cup final against Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

Currently, the highest transfer fee from the Israeli Premier League is held by Wesley Fofana, who was sold from Maccabi Tel Aviv to AZ Alkmaar for €7.3 million last summer. Maccabi Tel Aviv's stance indicates they expect Varela's value to surpass this record due to his World Cup exposure and on-field contributions.
