Perfume Prices Often Cheaper in Israeli Pharmacies Than at Ben Gurion Duty Free

As summer travel peaks at Ben Gurion Airport, many Israelis shop at the duty free terminal, traditionally seen as the best place to buy perfumes. However, a recent price comparison reveals that perfumes can be significantly cheaper in Israeli pharmacy chains than at the duty free shops. For example, the 90ml NORMANDE perfume costs about 332 shekels at duty free but only 279 shekels at BE Pharm, a 19% difference. Similarly, CHLOÉ perfume is priced at 359 shekels at duty free versus 299 shekels at BE Pharm, a 20% gap.

The largest discrepancy was found with the 90ml MUGLER perfume, priced at 411 shekels at duty free but just 275 shekels at BE Pharm, nearly 50% cheaper. Good Pharm stores also showed notable price differences, with their duty free outlets in Eilat, which are VAT-exempt, offering even lower prices than Ben Gurion duty free. For instance, PRADA perfume costs 545 shekels at Ben Gurion duty free but only 399 shekels at Good Duty Free in Eilat, a 37% reduction.

NARCISO perfume is sold for 386 shekels at Ben Gurion duty free, compared to 299 shekels at Good Pharm stores nationwide and 249 shekels at Good Duty Free in Eilat, showing savings of up to 55%. The findings suggest that duty free no longer guarantees the best prices for perfumes. Travelers are advised to compare prices before purchasing to avoid overspending and potentially save significant amounts that could be better used during their vacation.
