New Elite Haredi Yeshiva Combines Torah Study, Combat Service, and Academic Degrees
Rabbi Yaavetz, head of the new "Meshech Chochma" yeshiva, has introduced a groundbreaking program designed for top-tier Haredi young men aged 17 to 20. The five-year track integrates advanced Torah learning, elite combat service, and prestigious academic degrees, aiming to cultivate a new generation of Torah scholars who also serve as dedicated workers and defenders of Israel.
The program begins with an intensive year of Torah study combined with academic courses from Ono Academic College in fields such as law, accounting, information systems, and management. This is followed by two years of full combat service in the Haredi-protected Netzah Yehuda Battalion (Hesder unit), with continuous yeshiva support throughout. The final two years return students to Torah study to complete their religious exams and academic degrees.
The yeshiva operates in a strictly controlled, spiritually sterile environment in a separate luxury complex near Or Yehuda and Kiryat Ono, with rigorous digital filtering and full financial subsidies covering tuition, housing, and academic fees. Students only pay a one-time registration fee of 350 shekels and receive military salaries during their service, ensuring no financial burden on families.
Enrollment is currently open for the first class starting on the 3rd of Elul, with only 50 spots available to maintain quality and personalized attention. Half of these places are already filled, and candidates undergo a thorough selection process including personal interviews and academic evaluations. Rabbi Yaavetz emphasizes that this program is not a remedial solution but a proactive path for elite Haredi youth to excel spiritually, academically, and in national service, inspired by successful models in American Haredi communities.
Interested candidates or their families are encouraged to apply promptly due to limited availability.
