Qatar Proposes Limited Shipping Route and $1.3 Billion to Iran for Strait of Hormuz Deal

Qatar recently submitted a proposal to regulate navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The plan suggests creating a new, confined shipping lane for vessels while closing two existing routes to the north and south, effectively limiting maritime traffic in the area. Additionally, Qatar has offered to release $1.3 billion in frozen funds to Iran as part of the arrangement. A response from Iran's leadership was expected yesterday but has not yet been received.
