Kibbutz Kerem Shalom Builds First New Early Childhood Centers Since October Conflict

Kerem Shalom, a kibbutz in the Eshkol Regional Council, has begun construction of two new early childhood centers for children aged zero to three, marking the first such development in decades. These centers will accommodate approximately 15 children, all born after October 7, 2023. The initiative symbolizes a renewal for the mixed religious-secular community, which has been gradually resettling since April 2025 following the traumatic events of the conflict that began in October 2023.

The project is supported by the organization "Brothers and Sisters for Israel - Civil Operations Center," working alongside kibbutz members and parents to build, paint, and prepare the facilities from scratch. Their approach emphasizes the educational role of the physical environment. Since the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, the organization has established and equipped around 270 early childhood centers in evacuation hotels and returning communities.

The kibbutz has also welcomed five new families who joined after the conflict, contributing to the community's future. The construction of these centers represents both a tribute to the kidnapped and fallen residents and a commitment to rebuilding and growth in the region.
