Hapoel Haifa Owner Yoav Katz Sees Good Squad but Expects Adjustments Ahead of New Season

Hapoel Haifa is preparing for the 2026/27 season, with the team returning to Israel on Monday to continue training ahead of the Toto Cup derby against Maccabi Haifa on Saturday. The club is still finalizing its roster, aiming to sign at least two more foreign players and possibly an additional foreign player for the youth team who could also play for the senior squad if needed. Owner Yoav Katz, who is entering his 23rd year with the club and 18th in the Premier League, spoke about the challenges ahead in an interview with the club's official website. He described the current training camp as successful, noting good performances in both training and matches so far. Katz said the squad looks good but anticipates some adjustments once the league begins and the team better understands its strengths and weaknesses. Regarding season ticket sales, Katz expressed hope for more support, highlighting that Hapoel Haifa is the only team not receiving assistance from the Haifa municipality and is relying on its own resources, fans, and sponsors. The club recently passed the financial oversight without municipal aid. Katz remains optimistic about overcoming difficulties and improving the team as the season progresses.
