Anderson de Freitas Soares, the new defender signed by Maccabi Haifa on July 18, is widely known by the unusual nickname "Tsunami," a moniker he has carried since his youth career in Brazil. The club confirmed his signing and embraced the nickname in their welcome announcement. In a past interview in Brazil, de Freitas explained that he received the nickname early on at Remo's youth academy because of his aggressive playing style, where he would "come in strong, clear everything, and push everything out of the way." He liked the name and decided to keep it permanently, despite his coach suggesting he change it.
