Communications Minister Karhi Rejects Supreme Court Freeze on Communications Law as Unauthorized

Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi criticized the Supreme Court's decision to freeze the recently passed Communications Law, calling the ruling unauthorized and legally invalid. Despite the court's intervention, Karhi affirmed that the Communications Law, approved by the Knesset last week, remains valid and in effect. He accused the Supreme Court justices of violating their oath to uphold the State of Israel and its laws, labeling them as lawbreakers. Karhi also pointed to the upcoming Knesset election candidacy deadline on September 7, challenging those who believe public decisions and laws should be determined by the judiciary to run for office alongside the opposition, which he described as unable to accept defeat and damaging democracy.
