Israir Flight to Israel Canceled After Ground Vehicle Damages Plane in London
On July 16, an unusual incident at London Airport caused the cancellation of an Israir flight to Israel. While preparing for takeoff, a ground service vehicle collided with the Israir aircraft during towing, inflicting damage that rendered the plane inoperable. Passengers had already boarded and waited on the plane for hours without air conditioning before the airline announced the flight's cancellation due to the damage.
Following the accident, all passengers were removed from the aircraft and returned to the terminal, where they awaited their luggage. Israir arranged transportation and hotel accommodations for the affected travelers and offered reimbursements for those who independently secured lodging, meals, and transportation. The airline is actively coordinating with airport authorities to arrange a rescue flight to return passengers to Israel as soon as possible, with Sabbath-observant travelers expected to return by Sunday.
Israir emphasized that this was the third such incident involving ground vehicles striking aircraft at the London airport, and to their knowledge, no comprehensive investigation has yet been conducted by airport management. The airline apologized for the inconvenience, stressing that the event was beyond their control and reaffirmed their commitment to passenger safety and support until their return home.
